Futons - Compact and Functional
Whether you're a college student on a budget or you just like the furniture you add to your room to have a simple flair and clean lines, a futon is an addition you should look into.
Futons are especially useful if space is limited and you want to get as much function as possible from your furniture. A futon can be both a sofa and then expanded to be a bed. The futons of today are extremely comfortable as opposed to the first generation models that were all the rage in the 1970's that were little more than a piece of flimsy foam rubber covered in a piece of cotton fabric. The futon mattresses of today are designed to be durable and exceptionally comfortable.
You can get the look you want for your room by choosing the futon frame you want. There are frames with high arms for a regal Asian feel or if you prefer something a little more low-key there are designs that are armless and others with very plain extended arms. Futon frames are either made of wood or heavy duty painted steel. If you just need a guest bed on a very limited basis and you don't have a guest room, the Fu-Chest Futon Chest Bed will be your new best friend. This ingenious design is a functional chest with drawers that sits quietly in your room or hallway and when you need a bed, you an extra sleeping space for one or two people, you simply open the chest and pull out the full sized mattress and the chest converts to a headboard.
Futons can be a great addition to your room especially if space is limited; they make a very smart decorating choice.
