Use Your Corner Spaces!
Most rooms have at least four of them and some rooms have even more. They can be one of the most frustrating aspects of designing a room - they are called :corners.
Some designers refer to the corners in a room as "the turning point". Meaning that when the room decor comes to a corner, it undergoes a slight change in color, pattern and/or texture. This helps create interest in the design and doesn't leave you with a room that is exactly the same all the way around.
Most people simply place either standing lamps or plants on stands in their corner spaces. While this is acceptable decorating, it is also basically not exciting as a design. One decorating trick that looks great in a room is to use a
small corner table and place objects of interest on it such as a small personal photograph collection or a small sculpture. A piece of art or personal photos make great additions as they are great impact pieces that will draw the eye of the viewer to them almost immediately.
For an unusual way to use the old mirror trick to make a room seem larger, use two frameless mirrors placed side by side on each wall that meets in a corner. Put the mirrors as closely as possible to each other and they will expand that area of the room in the mind's eye and give the illusion of a good deal more space than is actually there.
Use these tips and give your corners a little pizzazz when you change around your decor.
