Easy Home Decorating Ideas

If you want to redo a room in your home but you feel you're "decor challenged"; rest easy - it's not hard to change the mood of a room.

You just need to boil down what you want out of the room. If you've always dreamed of having a fun corner in your room to entertain a close group of friends that is easy to do, if you want a cozier feel to the room you can accomplish that with just a few changes. Once you know what you're going for, just look around your room; your goal is to change as much within the room and add a few quality pieces as necessary. That way you can change your room and still stay budget friendly.

If you're going for entertainment, add a game table or if your space is small, add a small bar and you'll have an instant gathering spot for your next get together with your family and friends. Move your furniture around until you have your couch and chair or love seat facing each other and make a cozy conversation corner.

Make your room seem more spacious through the use of spots of lighter colors. Just have them scattered throughout the room by using pillows in light neutral colors and change your curtains to a lighter pattern are two very easy ways to liven up a room and give the impression of more space.

One item can make a huge difference in the entire vibe a room puts off.

Chairs Don't Have to Be With Tables

When you're looking to make a change to your decor and you don't want to make some huge changes in your room; one way is to make sure you're making good use of your space. You can make additions to your ceiling area in the form of using stencils or texture to bring some small elements of design. Tin ceiling tiles, a throwback to the turn of last century, make for a fabulous accompaniment.

If you have a room that just needs a little something, try adding a chair to a space. You don't have to have a table with it. A simple chair that acts as a holder for a real or silk plant makes a fun way to use a small space and keep the flow of the decor going. You can also use a chair beside a fireplace and let it do duel duty holding blankets to lay in front of the fire as well as a place to sit in front of the fireplace.

Chairs can also be used to decorate corner spaces. Corner chairs have one elongated corner that is made to fit in perfectly into the corner of any room. Corner chairs can be made from simple wood or an elaborately upholstered affair that can be used alone or as apart of a sectional furniture unit. Using corner spaces can really help your design flow smoothly around a room through the use of similar colors and/or textures in your choice of chairs or upholstery.

No matter what your personal tastes are, you can use chairs to make small additions to those little spaces around your rooms that just need "a little something".

Decorating Your Room on a Budget

Think a new room is out of your realm because you're on a limited budget? Think again, because you can make some amazing changes in your room for not a lot of money.

First of all, make yourself a budget that you can stick to for redoing your room. You can either make a lot of smaller changes that add up to a new feel for the room or you can opt to make larger changes over a period of time and come out with a truly updated room that will just take a little longer to finish.

No matter which way you go, here are some ideas for updating your room. Add splashes of color around your room. You can make pillows, paint ceramics in brighter colors or different shades to match your room better. Get a tightly fitting slip cover for your sofa - it can dramatically change the look of your room.

Other great ideas include adding one impact piece for a dramatic effect and look towards your "5th wall" (that is your ceiling) you can add texture to paint or even tin ceiling tiles for a cozy feel to the room. If you're the slightest bit handy with your sewing machine, you can make simple curtains to match and hang them from an interesting rod. Another option to hang a wooden blind that allows light in but not prying eyes.

Little things can change a room dramatically and you don't have to spend a lot of money to do it. If you choose your pieces wisely, it's very possible to make a terrific looking decor without investing a lot of your hard earned money.

Bedrooms with Romance

If you'd like to heat up the romance department in your bedroom, there are a number of things you can do to make your bedroom a more inviting place to spend more time with your partner.

First of all, make it comfortable. If you've had the same old bed for years upon years, it might be time for a change. If nothing else, at least consider a new headboard and footboard. Something with a canopy and gently draping fabrics will set a truly romantic mood in your room. Another romantic type of bed is the raised Victorian, that has a small step stool beside.

Think soft in your fabrics. You want to continue the warm and loving vibe in your bedroom right down to your fabrics, opt for soft fabrics. If you want something feminine and alluring go for lace or eyelet fabrics. Choose curtains to match your bedspread to give your bedroom balance. If you have any bright lights in your bedroom, move them to the guest room. In keeping with the soft mood in your bedroom, make your lighting soft as well. Go for lower wattage bulbs or for an even more romantic touch, candles will give you two a special glow when bathed in their light. Floor lamps such as a bamboo floor lamp will put off a low candlelight-like glow that is perfect for setting the mood for a romantic evening for two.

Flowers all around the room will keep the mood of romance flowing. If you're ready to take the romance up a notch in your relationship, make your bedroom a comfortable place to get close to your partner by adding just a few decor items.

Use Your Corner Spaces!

Most rooms have at least four of them and some rooms have even more. They can be one of the most frustrating aspects of designing a room - they are called :corners.

Some designers refer to the corners in a room as "the turning point". Meaning that when the room decor comes to a corner, it undergoes a slight change in color, pattern and/or texture. This helps create interest in the design and doesn't leave you with a room that is exactly the same all the way around.

Most people simply place either standing lamps or plants on stands in their corner spaces. While this is acceptable decorating, it is also basically not exciting as a design. One decorating trick that looks great in a room is to use a small corner table and place objects of interest on it such as a small personal photograph collection or a small sculpture. A piece of art or personal photos make great additions as they are great impact pieces that will draw the eye of the viewer to them almost immediately.

For an unusual way to use the old mirror trick to make a room seem larger, use two frameless mirrors placed side by side on each wall that meets in a corner. Put the mirrors as closely as possible to each other and they will expand that area of the room in the mind's eye and give the illusion of a good deal more space than is actually there.

Use these tips and give your corners a little pizzazz when you change around your decor.
