There are all sorts of wonderful things that you can do to make the most out of even the smallest of rooms. If you do not have all of the room you need to decorate the width of your room, then you have to set your sights a little bit higher and build your way up.
Wall shelves are the best way that you can utilize some of the precious space in your room. You can even put together a grouping of
shelves to make quite an amazing display in your room.
Gallery Wall Shelves are the perfect way to add some dimension and style to your small space. They aren't a huge space commitment and look terrific when place on the wall in a graduated way.
Console tables can do duty for holding small objects again without being a huge commitment to space. There are also
corner tables that will do a valuable service of using up corner space in your room that would otherwise be wasted. A
console table with a mirror on the back will also add to the illusion of space in your room.
Also, you can use your fifth wall, also known as your ceiling and decorate it with hangings, texture and other elements. Remember if you put anything on your ceiling it is going to draw the room in unless you use lighter colors. Dark colors can have the opposite effect and make your room seem even smaller - so keep those color choices light and bright when your design motive is to make your room feel cozy.
Use these tips and make your small space more comfortable and cozy without seeming any smaller.

New Year's Room-a-lutions!
With a brand new year just around the corner, you might be thinking of changing some of the elements in your room.
Depending on your room, you might make a number of different resolutions. One good thing you might resolve to do no matter what your goals are for changing your room might be to get rid of the clutter. Simply put things up out of the room, if an object is out and you haven't used it recently or it's something you don't use often, put it up. Adding a functional piece of furniture for
storage is also good like a
console table or even another
bookshelf - both can do dual duty of holding a number of objects and reducing clutter while adding to the elegance of your room.
If your goal is to make your room cozier, add warm elements such as soft lighting, candle chandeliers or even candle trees are marvelous for adding a soft glow to a room. A
hanging lamp is also a way to add light without flooding the room. Adjustable lights give you the ultimate in control of the mood, lower for more intimate settings and turn the lights up for a less formal feel in the room.
Window treatments can do with a makeover too. Bring light fabrics into rooms you want to let more natural light into and if you have a room that gets cold in the winter and suffers from too much sun/heat in the summer - invest in some heavy insulated draperies that will keep the cold and heat out depending on the season. These draperies usually come in basic colors and are a snap to match to your interior color scheme.
Your fabrics can change the mood of your room. Linens project a light and airy feel while fabrics such as velvet bring a cozy feel. Many people change the
pillows on their sofa to match the season. Lighter fabrics in the spring and summer and darker, heavier fabrics in the fall and winter.
No matter what your goal is for this year in your decor, use these simple tips and you will be on your way to achieving the look and feel you want for your room with just a minimum of effort.

Cozy Up Your Guest Room
You may have made a decision over the last holiday season, that you were finally going to update your guest
room. It never seems to fail that just about the time you decide to change your guest
room, you seem to have guests!
If you feel it is time to redesign your guest
room into a place that will make everyone that comes to stay with you warm and welcomed. You'll want to go for a cozy and comfortable feel in the
room. There are a few design elements you can use to create that effect.
First of all, go for softer colors. No matter what your style preference whether it is Shabby Chic to classic French Country, stick to soft colors in the range for the style you have chosen and your
room will immediately develop a relaxing feel to it.
Next, you are creating a soft, cozy feel to the
room. Go easy on the impact pieces. You want your guests to be relaxed in this
room. Traditional artworks on the walls and use traditional linen type fabrics for the window treatments. Make the lighting soft in the
room. Candles placed strategically around a room or even better; a candle chandelier is a great choice for a classic low lighting style or even better a candle tree that will illuminate the room with a soft light from one area.
For the
bed and
bedding, choose traditional. The place where people want to relax isn't the place to experiment with wild colors or strange combinations. Your goal is to create a hideaway for your guests to enjoy. You may find you designed a room so comfortable that your guests don't want to leave!
