What happens when a kid that has been away from home comes back to live in the family home again? For whatever reason this does happen and you may want to do a little redecorating of their old room.

Your child does not really want to live in their old Scooby-Do themed room and you would prefer it to be changed also, so a few decisions are in order. For instance, do you want it to be gender specific and limit it to male or female furnishings? Alternatively, would a more neutral touch be in order? Do you have daughters that have to share a room? If so, you are probably no stranger to all of the hostilities that may accompany that type of living arrangement. While nothing is guaranteed to improve the situation (other than separate rooms, or as far as the girls are concerned, separate homes) there may be some things you can do to at least make it tolerable.

No matter if they are twins, or very close in age or even several years apart, they will not agree on a single theme. It would be difficult to get them to even agree it was a bedroom! At times a line drawn down the middle of the room or marked off with tape serves as a boundary line.

While adults feel this is a silly practice it may not hurt to give it a shot. Not the actual line, but something similar. Consider getting a screen room divider. They come in many different styles and designs so there is probably one that would do the trick. There are some that are a single panel rattan or a Panama screen that has a more open design. For something a little less open there is a 3-panel screen in a cable weave that goes with many decors.
